Numerical investigation of the ultimate lateral resistance of piles in soft clay

摘要: The paper presents a numerical study on the undrained lateral response of a single, free-head, reinforced concrete pile in soft clays. Soil conditions simulating normally consolidated clays are examined—undrained shear strength increasing with depth—and the pile-soil interaction under static lateral loading is analyzed. The nonlinear ? curves proposed in literature for soft clays are imported into a beam-on-nonlinear-Winkler-foundation simulation in order to predict the pile head lateral load—displacement curve and the distribution of the horizontal displacement and bending moment along the pile. The striking differences among these methods require further investigation via 3D finite element analyses. The determination of the ultimate soil resistance from the results of the finite element analyses aims at providing the estimation of a range of values for the ultimate soil resistance coefficient with depth and the comparison of the derived values to the corresponding ones proposed by existing methodologies.

The cavitation erosion damage process of dynamically loaded journal bearings

摘要: The cavitation damage model was built using finite element analysis software MSC.Marc. This paper attempted to numerically analyze the action process based on damage mechanics when a jet created by bubble collapse acted on the bearing surface in the process of cavitation erosion. The numerical results show that the values of equivalent plastic strain and void volume fraction increase with time. The values of damage scalar are higher on the bearing surface and subsurface, and decrease when it approaches the interface of overlay and nickel layer. The strain history and damage evolvement of bearing material acted on by jet impact load can be calculated efficiently using the proposed method, which develops a new method of analyzing cavitation erosion failure of the bearing surface.

Preparation of a Pb loaded gas diffusion electrode and its application to CO

摘要: A Pb loaded gas diffusion electrode was fabricated and used for the electroreduction of CO to formic acid. The Pb/C catalyst was prepared by isometric impregnation. The crystal structure and morphology of the Pb/C catalyst were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The preparation conditions of the gas diffusion electrode were optimized by adjusting the amounts of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in the gas diffusion layer and acetylene black in the catalytic layer. The electrochemical performance of the as-prepared gas diffusion electrode was studied by chronoamperometry and cyclic voltammetry. The optimized gas diffusion electrode showed good catalytic performance for the electroreduction of CO . The current efficiency of formic acid after 1 h of operation reached a maximum of 22% at -2.0 V versus saturated calomel electrode (SCE).

Metal-organic framework loaded manganese oxides as efficient catalysts for low-temperature selective

摘要: A mild deposition method was used to fabricate Mn-based catalysts on a UiO-66 carrier for the selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH (NH -SCR). The catalyst with 8.5 wt-% MnO loading had the highest catalytic activity for NH -SCR with a wide temperature window (100–290 °C) for 90% NO conversion. Characterization of the prepared MnO /UiO-66 catalysts showed that the catalysts had the crystal structure and porosity of the UiO-66 carrier and that the manganese particles were well-distributed on the surface of the catalyst. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis showed that there are strong interactions between the MnO and the Zr oxide secondary building units of the UiO-66 which has a positive effect on the catalytic activity. The 8.5 wt-% MnO catalyst maintained excellent activity during a 24-h stability test and exhibited good resistance to SO poisoning.

Long acting carmustine loaded natural extracellular matrix hydrogel for inhibition of glioblastoma recurrence

摘要: Many scientific efforts have been made to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and target glioblastoma cells, but the outcomes have been limited. More attention should be given to local inhibition of recurrence after glioblastoma resection to meet real medical needs. A biodegradable wafer containing the chemotherapeutics carmustine (1,3-bis(2-chloroethyl)-1-nitrosourea, BCNU) was the only local drug delivery system approved for clinical glioblastoma treatment, but with a prolonged survival time of only two months and frequent side effects. In this study, to improve the sustained release and prolonged therapeutic effect of drugs for inhibiting tumor recurrence after tumor resection, both free BCNU and BCNU- poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (the ratio of lactic acid groups to glycolic acid groups is 75/25) nanoparticles were simultaneously loaded into natural extracellular matrix hydrogel from pigskin to prepare BCNU gels. The hydrogel was injected into the resection cavity of a glioblastoma tumor immediately after tumor removal in a fully characterized resection rat model. Free drugs were released instantly to kill the residual tumor cells, while drugs in nanoparticles were continuously released to achieve a continuous and effective inhibition of the residual tumor cells for 30 days. These combined actions effectively restricted tumor growth in rats. Thus, this strategy of local drug implantation and delivery may provide a reliable method to inhibit the recurrence of glioblastoma after tumor resection in vivo.

Cooling performance of grid-sheets for highly loaded ultra-supercritical steam turbines

摘要: In order to increase efficiency and achieve a further CO-reduction, the next generation of power plant turbines will have steam turbine inlet temperatures that are considerably higher than the current ones. The high pressure steam turbine inlet temperature is expected to be increased up to approximately 700°C with a live steam pressure of 30MPa. The elevated steam parameters in the high and intermediate pressure turbines can be encountered with Ni-base alloys, but this is a costly alternative associated with many manufacturing difficulties. Collaborative research centre 561 “Thermally Highly Loaded, Porous and Cooled Multi-Layer Systems for Combined Cycle Power Plants” at RWTH Aachen University proposes cooling the highly loaded turbines instead, as this would necessitate the application of far less Ni-base alloys. To protect the thermally highly loaded components, a sandwich material consisting of two thin face sheets and a core made from a woven wire mesh is used to cover the walls of the steam turbine casing. The cooling steam is led through the woven wire mesh between the two face sheets to achieve a cooling effect. The wire mesh provides the grid-sheet with structural rigidity under varying operating conditions.In the present work, the cooling performance of the grid-sheets will be investigated applying the conjugate heat transfer method to ultra-supercritical live and cooling steam conditions for a section of the cooling structure. The behaviour of the flow and the heat transfer in the grid-sheet will be analyzed in detail using a parameter variation. The numerical results should give a first prediction of the cooling performance under future operating conditions.

Application of high-turning bowed compressor stator to redesign of highly loaded fan stage

摘要: A redesign of a highly loaded fan stage by using high-turning bowed compressor stator was conducted. The original tandem stator was replaced by the highly loaded bowed stator which was applicable to highly subsonic flow conditions. 3D contouring technique and local modification of blade were applied to the design of the bowed blade in order to improve the aerodynamic performance and the matching of the rotor and stator blade rows. Performance curves at different rotating speeds and performances at different operating points for both the original fan stage and redesigned fan stage were obtained by numerical simulations. The results show that the highly loaded bowed stator can be used not only to improve the structure and the aerodynamic performances at various operating points of the compressor stage but also to provide high performances at off-design conditions. It is believed that the highly loaded bowed stator can advance the design of high-performance compressor.

Preparation of biomass-derived carbon loaded with MnO as lithium-ion battery anode for improving its

摘要: Biomass-derived carbon materials for lithium-ion batteries emerge as one of the most promising anodes from sustainable perspective. However, improving the reversible capacity and cycling performance remains a long-standing challenge. By combining the benefits of K2CO3 activation and KMnO4 hydrothermal treatment, this work proposes a two-step activation method to load MnO2 charge transfer onto biomass-derived carbon (KAC@MnO2). Comprehensive analysis reveals that KAC@MnO2 has a micro-mesoporous coexistence structure and uniform surface distribution of MnO2, thus providing an improved electrochemical performance. Specifically, KAC@MnO2 exhibits an initial charge-discharge capacity of 847.3/1813.2 mAh·g–1 at 0.2 A·g–1, which is significantly higher than that of direct pyrolysis carbon and K2CO3 activated carbon, respectively. Furthermore, the KAC@MnO2 maintains a reversible capacity of 652.6 mAh·g–1 after 100 cycles. Even at a high current density of 1.0 A·g–1, KAC@MnO2 still exhibits excellent long-term cycling stability and maintains a stable reversible capacity of 306.7 mAh·g–1 after 500 cycles. Compared with reported biochar anode materials, the KAC@MnO2 prepared in this work shows superior reversible capacity and cycling performance. Additionally, the Li+ insertion and de-insertion mechanisms are verified by ex situ X-ray diffraction analysis during the charge-discharge process, helping us better understand the energy storage mechanism of KAC@MnO2.

A simplified method for the determination of vertically loaded pile-soil interface parameters in layered

摘要: The numerical analysis of pile-soil interaction commonly requires a lot of trial works to determine the interface parameters and the accuracy cannot be ensured normally. Considering this, this paper first conducts a sensitivity analysis to figure out the influence of interface parameters on the bearing behavior of a single pile in sand. Then, a simplified method for the determination of pile-soil interface parameters in layered soil is proposed based on the parameter studies. Finally, a filed loading test is used for the validation of the simplified method, and the calculated results agree well with the monitoring data. In general, the simplified method proposed in this paper works with higher accuracy and consumes less time compared with the traditional trial works, especially on the determinations of interfacial cohesive and interfacial friction angle.

em>Escherichia coli and bacteriophage MS2 in water using a copper and silver loaded

摘要: A novel photocatalytic Ag-Cu-TiO nanowire membrane was fabricated. Bacteria and virus disinfection was improved by co-depositing Ag and Cu onto membrane. Synergetic photocatalytic effects and free metal ions of Ag and Cu contribute to disinfection. 7.68 log removal of and 4.02 log removal of bacteriophage MS2 were achieved. Titanium dioxide (TiO ) is a widely used photocatalyst that has been demonstrated for microorganism disinfection in drinking water. In this study, a new material with a novel structure, silver and copper loaded TiO nanowire membrane (Cu-Ag-TiO ) was prepared and evaluated for its efficiency to inactivate and bacteriophage MS2. Enhanced photo-activated bactericidal and virucidal activities were obtained by the Cu-Ag-TiO membrane than by the TiO , Ag-TiO and Cu-TiO membranes under both dark and UV light illumination. The better performance was attributed to the synergies of enhanced membrane photoactivity by loading silver and copper on the membrane and the synergistic effect between the free silver and copper ions in water. At the end of a 30 min test of dead-end filtration under 254 nm UV irradiation, the Cu-Ag-TiO membrane was able to obtain an removal of 7.68 log and bacteriophage MS2 removal of 4.02 log, which have met the US EPA standard. The free metal ions coming off the membrane have concentrations of less than 10 ppb in the water effluent, far below the US EPA maximum contaminant level for silver and copper ions in drinking water. Therefore, the photo-activated disinfection by the Cu-Ag-TiO membrane is a viable technique for meeting drinking water treatment standards of microbiological water purifiers.

本文介绍了一种基于横向运动栅极场效应晶体管(LMGFET)的新型微型力传感器。文中提出了一种用于小型LMGFET器件性能评估的电气模型,与以前的模型相比,其具有更高精度。由此设计了一种新型的三明治夹层结构,该结构由跨轴解耦Au-栅极阵列层和两个柔性光刻胶SU-8 层组成。通过所提出的双差分传感布置,LMGFET工作时受垂直干扰产生的输出电流被大大消除,所提出传感器的相对输出误差从4.53%(传统差分结构)降低到0.01%。本文还为所提出的传感器开发和模拟了一个可行的制造工艺过程。基于LMGFET的力传感器的灵敏度为4.65 μA∙nN−1,可与垂直可动栅极场效应晶体管(VMGFET)器件相媲美,器件的非线性度提高了0.78%,测量范围扩大为±5.10 μN。上述分析能够为LMGFET器件的电气和结构参数提供全面的设计优化指导,并证明了所提出的传感器在生物医学显微操作应用中具有出色的力传感潜力。

Sagittal SLIP-anchored task space control for a monopode robot traversing irregular terrain

摘要: As a well-explored template that captures the essential dynamical behaviors of legged locomotion on sagittal plane, the spring-loaded inverted pendulum (SLIP) model has been extensively employed in both biomechanical study and robotics research. Aiming at fully leveraging the merits of the SLIP model to generate the adaptive trajectories of the center of mass (CoM) with maneuverability, this study presents a novel two-layered sagittal SLIP-anchored (SSA) task space control for a monopode robot to deal with terrain irregularity. This work begins with an analytical investigation of sagittal SLIP dynamics by deriving an approximate solution with satisfactory apex prediction accuracy, and a two-layered SSA task space controller is subsequently developed for the monopode robot. The higher layer employs an analytical approximate representation of the sagittal SLIP model to form a deadbeat controller, which generates an adaptive reference trajectory for the CoM. The lower layer enforces the monopode robot to reproduce a generated CoM movement by using a task space controller to transfer the reference CoM commands into joint torques of the multi-degree of freedom monopode robot. Consequently, an adaptive hopping behavior is exhibited by the robot when traversing irregular terrain. Simulation results have demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method.

摘要: 本文设计并分析了一种改进H形裂环谐振器(split ring resonator, SRR)的新型超材料。它具有负磁导率和负介电常数特性,且在X,Ku和Ka频带内具有多频共振特性。本文就超材料方向和位置的变化对不同配置下的贴片天线进行了分析。结果表明,新型超材料天线实现了性能优化,表现为9 dB的可观增益,77 GHz的带宽,100%的辐射效率,以及有源区65%的面积缩减。二阶分形超材料天线尺寸降至1/21,从而实现了高度小型化。该研究为急需小尺寸尖波束的通信领域提供了一种解决方案。
